Full rules
These are our own rules, and the game checks your guesses with the same code these lines describe.
The goal
Guess one hidden equation. Easy has 5 cells (like 3+4=7). Standard has 8 cells (like 12+35=47). Each cell holds a digit from 0 to 9, or one of + - × ÷ =.
You get six tries. Everyone gets the same equation on the same day.
What makes an equation valid
There is exactly one equals sign. Each side is an expression and both sides have the same value. A bare number on the left works too, as in 12=3×4.
Multiplication and division go first, then addition and subtraction, all left to right. This is the usual PEMDAS and BODMAS order.
Division has to come out even. You cannot divide by zero, and every quotient is a whole number.
Numbers with two or more digits do not start with 0. A single 0 is fine.
No negative numbers. The running value cannot go below zero while you work left to right.
Symbols sit between numbers only. There are no signs in front of a number.
Color hints
Green means the symbol matches the answer in that cell. Yellow means the symbol is in the answer, in a different cell. Gray means it is not in the answer.
With repeated symbols, colors only go up to the number of copies in the answer. Greens are counted first, then the leftover cells get yellow from left to right.
Ranking and sharing
Solve today's puzzle and your number of tries goes on the leaderboard. Fewer is better. Easy and Standard are ranked separately, and unsolved rounds are not posted.
The share grid shows colors only, no symbols, so it never gives away the answer.
Examples
- 2+3×4=14 works out as 3×4=12 first, then 2+12=14.
- 8÷2×3=12 goes left to right: 8÷2=4, then 4×3=12.
- 7÷2=3 does not come out even, so you cannot submit it.
